Best Time to Visit Qeshm

Qeshm has a hot, humid Persian Gulf climate. The cooler season, from autumn to early spring, is the most popular time to travel, but every season suits something. This page helps you match the timing to your plans. MyQeshm does not take bookings; for stays and tours head to Qeshmoff.

Season by season in Qeshm

Weather varies a little each year; these descriptions are general and meant for early planning.

Autumn

The heat and humidity of summer ease off and the weather turns mild. Good for sightseeing outside town, boat trips and photography. Crowds are moderate and growing, and stay prices are usually low to medium.

Winter

The most pleasant and most popular season for seeing the island: walking in the valleys and the mangrove forest, beaches and village visits are all comfortable. Evenings turn cool and the sea can be rough at times. Crowds and stay prices are high, especially on holidays.

Spring

Early spring is still mild and pleasant, and around Nowruz the island fills with visitors. Later in spring it gets warmer and more humid. Crowds and stay prices are high at Nowruz and ease afterwards.

Summer

Hot and humid, and walking around in the middle of the day is hard. Plan activities for early morning and evening and spend most of the day by the sea or in the shade. Crowds are smaller and stays are usually cheaper; make sure your place has air conditioning and enough water.

Holidays and peak crowds

Nowruz is the busiest time to visit Qeshm, and stays, rental cars and ferries fill up earlier than the rest of the year. Public holidays, especially those joined to a weekend, have a similar effect, and cool-season weekends are busier than midweek days.

If you can, travel midweek for smaller crowds and more choice. For holidays, book your stay as early as you can and ask the host about the cancellation terms.

Ramadan and local occasions

During Ramadan the opening hours of the bazaar, restaurants and some services change: many restaurants are closed during the day or open later, and the town comes alive after iftar. Plan lunch and shopping ahead and ask each place for its hours.

Qeshm has its own local culture. On religious and national occasions dress and behave respectfully, avoid eating and drinking in public during fasting hours, and ask locals before photographing them.

Weather and the sea

Qeshm is an island, and much of the experience and the travel depends on the sea. On windy or rough days ferries may run late or pause for a while; if your return is tied to a fixed time, leave a margin.

The Hara mangrove forest and the Naz islands are tidal: the time you visit changes the experience, and boat trips are only possible or pleasant at certain hours of the day. Ask the boatman or a local guide for the exact times.

At Shib Deraz the turtle season covers part of the year and sightings depend on timing and conditions. Get the exact dates from official sources or a local guide, and take care of the turtles and their eggs.

How many days should we stay?

To get a real taste of the island you need at least two or three days, because the sights are spread out and most are best reached by car. With four or five days you can see the main western and eastern sights without rushing and keep a day for rest and the beach.

In summer, plan lighter days because of the heat and keep outdoor activities for the morning and evening.
