Areas of Qeshm: where to stay and what to see
Qeshm is the largest island in Iran and its sights are spread around it: Qeshm city in the east, Dargahan in the north, Laft in the north-west, the Geopark in the west and beaches in the south. This page introduces each area so you can decide where to stay and what to see. MyQeshm does not take bookings; find stays and the map on Qeshmoff.
Areas of the island
Distances on Qeshm are measured by car. Each area has its own character; choose by what matters most for your trip.
Qeshm city
Qeshm city is the administrative and service centre in the east of the island, and the ferry piers are in this part too. Restaurants, shops, pharmacies and city services are easy to find.
Nearby sights include the Portuguese Castle and the Kharbas Cave, and the city bazaars suit shopping and a short stroll.
For first-time visitors who arrive by ferry and want easy access to services, the city is a simple choice.

Dargahan
Dargahan is in the north of the island and is known for its bazaar and shopping centres. If shopping is part of your trip, put this area on your plan.
There are stays in Dargahan too, and those who want to be near the bazaar while keeping access to Qeshm city and the east can consider it.
For opening hours and shops, use the dedicated Dargahan page.

Laft and the north-west
The north-west has a more old-fashioned feel. Laft is known for its wind towers and traditional architecture, and the Hara forest, the Tala wells and scenic coastal routes are in the same part.
Some travellers use the Pol port and landing craft to cross between the island and the mainland; see the transport page for route details.
This area suits those who prefer calm, photography and local culture over crowds, and who travel by car.

The west and Geopark
The west is the heart of the island's UNESCO Geopark: eroded canyons and rocks, a salt cave and rare landscapes. Chahkooh, Namakdan and Stars Valley are among the best-known places here.
These places are scattered and exploring them means walking in nature; bring suitable shoes, enough water and enough time, and plan your visit for good weather.
For nature, photography and geology lovers this is the best part of the island.

The south and beaches
The south of the island is tied to the sea and the shore. Shib Deraz beach is known for its turtles, and from there and other departure points you can plan trips to the surrounding islands.
Hengam Island and the Naz Islands are sea attractions near Qeshm. Visits are usually by boat, with a guide and in good sea conditions.
If your trip centres on the beach, the sea and water adventures, choose this area.

Eco-lodge villages
In villages such as Laft, Salakh and Tabl you can stay in local houses, eat local food and get to know island life. Facilities are simpler than a hotel but the experience is more authentic.
Ask the host for the exact address, stay conditions and directions before going, as the road to some villages is a side road.
Good for a calm trip, local culture and staying away from crowds.
